Arctic Monkeys Web Transmission

Heute abend um 9:00 PM British Summer Time (22:00 Uhr deutscher Zeit) streamen die Arctic Monkeys auf webtransmission.arcticmonkeys.com irgendwas ins Internetz.

Wahrscheinlich wird ein Konzert übertragen, denn das neue Album “Humbug” (Amazon Partnerlink) wird am 21. August erscheinen. (via dasistdasen.de)

StarCraft 2 In-Game Videos

Auf dem Event E-Stars Seoul 2009 wurde unter Anderem auch die Betaversion von StarCraft 2 gespielt. Während dem Event sind zwei Videos erschienen, die ein intensives Match zwischen Protoss und Terranern zeigen. Die Karte, auf der gespielt wird, gleicht sehr der Karte Lost Temple aus dem ersten Starcraft Teil.

Trotz der neuen Features (z.B. teleportierende Protoss Einheiten) ist es Blizzard gelungen, Gameplay und Spieltempo von StarCraft 1 weitgehend zu erhalten. (via sc2blog)

Spaß mit MS Paint

MS Paint kann mehr als manch einer denkt, das obige Bild von deviantArt wurde komplett mit MS Paint erstellt.

Im Artikel MS Paint for Windows – Tips & Tricks for using Paint von Digital Inspiration findet man einiges an Tipps, um selbst solche Gemälde Gepainte zu erstellen.

If you left click on a colour shade, it becomes the primary colour while right-clicking on another colour will make that a secondary colour. There’s however an option to store a third colour in the palette as well.

Just select the “Pick Color” tool and CTRL+ left-click on any one of the shades in the Palette or the canvas window and then CTRL+ left-click to use this new 3rd shade without losing the 2 earlier shades. You can then access this color by holding the Ctrl key while drawing.

Hurricane & Southside Festival 2010

In Vorbereitung auf das Hurricane und Southside Festival 2010 (18.-20.06.2010) werde ich in diesem Blogpost, wie ich es auch für Rock am Ring 2010 mache, Informationen und Links zusammentragen. Hauptaugenmerk werde ich dabei auf das Southside Festival legen, da ich auch vorhabe, dort wieder hin zu fahren.

Es stehen noch keine Bands für 2010 fest, aber die Vorbereitung ist schon wieder interessant. Musik-Festivals und Wissenschaft, wenn das nicht mal genau das Richtige für mich ist! Nach den Beatsteaks eine kleine Lektion in neurowissenschaftlichen Auswirkungen von Musik oder ein Blick durch das Teleskop auf die Monde des Jupiter.

Nach einem Bericht von Futurismic macht eine Gruppe von Wissenschaftlern mit dem Namen Guerilla Science in England nun genau das, sie gehen auf Festivals und halten dort wissenschaftliche Vorträge. Freaks meet Freaks, awesome! (via Nerdcore)

Guerilla Science brings unconventional forms of science entertainment to music festivals. An independent organisation founded by Oxford chemistry graduate Richard Bowdler in 2007, it puts on science-themed talks, live experiments, installations, art, films and performances at music festivals across the UK.

In their own words: “We want you to taste a brain made of cake, spy the moons of Jupiter, dance to fractals, hunt for the Higgs, and ponder how utterly astounding it is that you are reading these words at all.”

As well as the aforementioned lecture on astrophysics, their 2009 festival science tent will overflow with a wide range of performances and workshops. Speakers include particle physicists working with the Large Hadron Collider, author Dr Jamie Ward, an expert on synaesthesia and the entwining of the senses, and acclaimed comedian Helen Keen with her one-woman show about the history of rockets. YouTube-Viral sorgt für Plattenverkäufe

Dieses fantastischen YouTube-Video mit dem zweitgrößten Aquarium der Welt, hat als Soundtrack einen Song der Indie-Band Barcelona (Wer es sich noch nicht angesehen hat, sollte das in Fullscreen und HD nachholen!). Als das Video zum Viral wurde und verbreitet wurde, gingen auch die Plattenverkäufe der Band durch die Decke.

Jetzt hat die Band auf YouTube eine Video-Response veröffentlicht, um sich bei dem Uploader zu bedanken, ohne dessen “Piraterie” sie nie so bekannt geworden wären. (via Nerdcore)

So, instead of demanding that YouTube pull the video, the band posted a response to the ‘Kuroshio Sea’ video on the site, thanking their new found fans and the uploader who posted the original video.

“We’re so flattered to learn that it features one of our songs called Please Don’t Go,” Barcelona’s lead singer Brian Fennell says in the video response.

“We want to let you know that it’s been affirming in the last week to watch in the iTunes store a correlation with the sales of our record ‘Absolutes’, growing in the rock charts as a result of having the song placed in the video,” drummer Rhett Stonelake added. (via torrentfreak)

ISS und Space Shuttle zwischen Sonne und Erde
